Metro Purpleline Extension Winter 2017-Spring 2018

Koreatown Western and Wilshire: 14 Weekend Closures Good news for commuters eventually wanting to reduce traffic to Los Angele’s Westside communities, construction is underway and set to extend nine miles from the Western/Wilshire Metro station.

Phase 1 of the new stations will include La Brea, Fairfax and La Cienega. However, to do this, Wilshire and Western will be creating a work zone for ongoing construction that includes fencing and barriers around Wilshire and Western for one year. The fourteen weekend closures are from October 2017-Spring 2018 (excluding Thanksgiving and Christmas weekends). Beginning each Friday evening from 9pm to Monday 6am, all lanes on Wilshire between Manhattan and Western will be closed and will reopen Mondays at 6am. Traffic will remain open Monday thru Friday but Wilshire Blvd. will be reduced to two lanes between Western and St. Andrews.

Additionally, left turns will be restricted on Wilshire and Western, and sidewalk closures will be required between Manhattan and Western.
